THERA Nordic's core:
Healing the gut lining

Get to know the essentials of the science we are built on, and how we stand out in the world of gut health.

Our hero products side by side

Same goal. Two intensities.

The simplest way to think about it: REZCUE is everyday upkeep, HEALIA is intensive, ground-up repair.

REZCUE
REZCUE
The foundation · everyday maintenance

A clean, twice-daily drink that renews and protects the gut lining from mouth to large intestine.

Reach for it when you want

  • Daily gut upkeep and ongoing protection
  • Support for the upper gut, heartburn and indigestion
  • Relief from mild to moderate discomfort
  • A light, water-based daily ritual
  • A vegan and vegetarian formula

HEALIA
Intensive repair · the deep rebuild

Our most powerful lining formula. Four clinically-dosed actives rebuild a damaged lining from the structure up.

Reach for it when you want

  • To rebuild a badly worn or struggling lining
  • Repair further down, lower tract and colon
  • The most intensive repair we make
  • Nourishing, food-based collagen and colostrum
  • To soothe and calm a very irritated gut

Our expertise

We focus on the gut lining.

This is the whole of what we do. We strengthen the barrier that lets you absorb nutrients while keeping pathogens and other unwanted things from crossing into the tissue, where they would otherwise trigger inflammation, food intolerances and a wide range of gut problems.

This lining is a single cell thick. It is the entire border between the outside world and your bloodstream. When it is compromised, the body is forced to compensate and defend itself.

The gut lining, up close

One layer,
doing an enormous job.

On the left, the lining working as it should. On the right, the same lining once a seal gives way.

Healthy lining
LUMEN · GUT CONTENTS MUCUS LAYER ONE CELL THICK LAMINA PROPRIA IMMUNE CELLS BLOODSTREAM
Cells sealed edge to edge by tight junctions, with a continuous mucus layer above and calm immune cells below. Nutrients cross in a controlled way, and nothing else gets through.
Compromised lining
BROKEN SEAL PARTICLES LEAK IN IMMUNE RESPONSE
A seal gives way. Bacteria and food fragments slip into the lamina propria, and the immune cells there switch on. This is the start of inflammation, food intolerances and a wide range of gut symptoms.

There is one ingredient we trust most to protect this lining

A special form of zinc, and it is misunderstood.

People assume it is simply zinc and carnosine taken together. It is not. It is a single molecule, and that difference is the whole point.

On their own, zinc and carnosine are each absorbed quickly and spread throughout the body. Useful in general, but nothing keeps them at the gut lining, so there is no targeted support where it is needed.
L-CARNOSINE ZnZINC ACETATE

Locked together

Two ingredients, one molecule.

Bind them and something new appears: zinc L-carnosine, also called polaprezinc.

NNH₂NNNONZn
As the carnosine takes hold, the acetate lets go and the zinc settles into a four-point grip, a quadridentate chelate. Held this way it travels intact and releases its zinc only under the right conditions.

A four-point grip

Carnosine wraps the zinc and holds it at four points, so the molecule does not simply come apart on the way through the gut.

It travels intact

Bound this way it is not absorbed early or diluted through the body. It stays in the gut, moving along the lining.

Released where needed

It gives up its zinc only under the right conditions, at the spot that needs it, rather than everywhere at once.

Zinc at the gut wall

How this matters at the gut lining

The same journey along the gut, ordinary zinc first and then zinc L-carnosine. There is a damaged patch partway along. Watch what each one does when it reaches it.

Ordinary zinc
DAMAGED AREA

Ordinary zinc is taken up all along the healthy wall and used up as it travels. It is useful in general, but it reaches the damaged patch with little left to give, and nothing directs it there.

Zinc L-carnosine
DAMAGED AREACARNOSINE STAYSZINC DELIVERED

Zinc L-carnosine travels straight past the healthy wall without being absorbed, then gathers at the damaged patch and coats it. There, each molecule hands its zinc to the injured tissue to help it heal from within, while the carnosine stays put, shielding the area and steadying the lining.

Decades of scientific interest

One ingredient, studied since the 1980s.

A Japanese prescription medicine since 1994, with a large published literature spread across the whole gut.

This is the foundation

We believe that healing the gut lining is the first goal in gut health. Everything else is supportive.
